William Hurt’s Girlfriend Marlee Matlin
William Hurt is likely one of the last big names joining Ridley Scott’s revision of the Robin Hood (current title) legend. HR reports that Hurt has joined the cast to play the Earl of Pembroke, William Marshall, Meet Marlee Matlin, the deaf actress and former girlfriend of William Hurt. See her photos, biography and video from her Oscar winning performance in Children of a Lesser God. William Hurt, seen here as General “Thunderbolt” Ross from last year’s Incredible Hulk movie, has been added to the cast of Ridley Scott’s untitled Robin Hood, formerly known as Nottingham.
She is in the news due to her new book called “I’ll Scream Later,” containing sensational and disturbing claims of sexual escapades and even abuse suffered at the hands of her famous actor-boyfriend of the time. About Hurt, she claims that “I was afraid. I was always afraid of him,” she said in an interview about her book.
She also credits him for helping turn her life around with much discussion focused on her recurring drug abuse. “Nothing made me happy except the drugs, that’s how bad it was. I could have easily smoked twenty joints a day.” She was a pothead who was also addicted to cocaine.
Their sexual relationship started the day they met during the auditions for Children of a Lesser God and continued for two years afterward. She alleges that he ripped her clothes off one night while she protested his manly advances. The sensational book also reveals the Ms. Matlin was molested by a female babysitter and was doing a high-school teacher for pleasure.
As a biography Marlee Matlin was born August 24, 1965 in Morton Illinois which makes her age 43 years old. She was deaf since the age of 18 months old. She won the Oscar as 21 years which made her the youngest Oscar winning lead actress at the time. Her acting credits include regular roles in The West Wing, and Blue’s Clues.
Her first book was a novel called Deaf Child Crossing, which obviously did not come with the firestorm of controversy surrounding “I’ll Scream Later.” You can read much more about her performances, book and private life.
Her life is turned around now from those early days of fast partying and life as William Hurt’s girlfriend. The first Oscar-winning deaf actress has a distinguished Hollywood career and normal homelife. She is now long married to a police officer named Kevin Grandalski who is the father of her four beautiful children ages 6 to 14.
In her spare time she remains an advocate for deaf people not only by example but also by deed as a frequent speaker at charity events and public service spectacles.
